Try New Things

A bowl with a straw sounded like a ridiculous idea to me...

... but they were all gone when I went to redeem mine!

My family of six goes through a LOT of cereal.

(When my wife and I are too tired to make a proper dinner, we proclaim that the evening will be "free choice"... and most of our kids choose cereal. My wife and I have four children, and we are tired a lot... so it's not unusual for us to buy 5-6 boxes of cereal every week. Judge us if you must.)

As a result of our cereal purchases, we've benefitted from a lot of "FREE" stuff over the years, much of it from General Mills.

They give away the best stuff.

Lucky Charm towels...

Cinnamon Toast Crunch bowls...

Cheerios snacking containers...

Plastic colour-changing spoons...

The list goes on and on and on.

Admittedly, I'm a sucker for free stuff.

And the online redemption process that the company has put in place makes it really easy to claim your prizes...

... when they have them available, that is.

The cereal box states that to get a bowl, you need to purchase one participating cereal box before June 30th, 2024.

I tried to redeem my offer on April 11... and the company has already had 25,000 people redeem these bowls by then!*

This post is not a complaint.

It's the opposite: I'm impressed by how successful this offer has clearly been for the company, especially since it's not something I would have predicted.

(Why does a bowl need a straw?? Why not just sip the remaining milk from the edge of the bowl like we've been doing since the dawn of bowls?!?)

When it comes to ideas, there aren't any guarantees as to what will work and what won't...

... and that's as great a reason to adopt a test-and-learn mentality as any!

Try new things.

Even if it's a bowl with a straw.

* It should be noted that the requirement to purchase only a single box of cereal was unusually low. Most of the other stuff I've claimed previously has required two or three purchases. So this almost certainly played a part in these things selling out so fast.
