I have over 25 years of progressive marketing, strategy, and innovation experience. My career includes 12 years at four consumer-centric Fortune 500 companies - Starbucks, Yum! Brands (Pizza Hut), Coca-Cola, and Google - but I’ve also worked for two start-up companies. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on many different categories (including B2B SAAS, beverages, confectionery, coffee, cannabis, digital media, and quick-service restaurants) and in many different roles (including account management, category management, trade marketing, marketing communications, brand marketing, and brand strategy), and I’m able to use that diverse background to think differently about the biggest challenges facing a business.

I hold an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (marketing) and an MBA (strategic management, international business) from the Schulich School of Business at York University. I have also completed numerous certificate courses, including courses from Harvard Business School Online (“Disruptive Strategy with Clayton Christensen”), Rutgers University (“Influencer Marketing Strategy”), IDEO U (“Insights for Innovation”), Disney Institute (“Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence”), Google (“Google AI Essentials”), and more. What can I say? I love to learn.

Both! My career began at a dot-com startup, after which I went on to roles at renowned Fortune 500 companies. That was followed by a CMO role at a start-up that traded on the TSX:V, then a Fractional CMO role at a SAAS scale-up. This broad background allows me to apply scalable marketing principles to businesses of any size.

Yes, I have extensive experience in the CPG industry, having worked at Starbucks (within their CPG organization), Coca-Cola, and Hill Street Beverage Company. I have also consulted for several large CPG clients.

Yes! While my background is predominantly in B2C (consumer-focused) organizations, the principles of strategic marketing, brand-building, and customer experience are universally applicable to B2B as well, and this enabled me to spend 18 months working as the CMO of a B2B SAAS company, as well as serve as a strategic advisor to several B2B-focused tech startups.

I primarily do this in two ways. First, I read a LOT. On a typical day, I will skim four different newspapers, review several news websites, and read a dozen different newsletters on topics including marketing, retail, technology, AI, leadership and more. I also follow various experts on social media and learn a lot from the content they post. Second, I frequently have meetings with a lot of very smart people. In addition to numerous “VirtuaLattes” I have with people I meet on LinkedIn, I have regular in-person “coffee connects” with people in my network, the majority of whom are brilliant entrepreneurs, exceptional academics, senior-level executive leaders, and other highly-accomplished subject-matter experts. I ask them a lot of questions, I listen carefully to their responses, and I think about how I can apply what they’ve taught me to my personal and professional life. This may seem like a lot of work (and it is), but I'm a naturally curious person who loves to learn, so keeping up on future trends rarely feels like work to me.

I believe my leadership style is a combination of Strategic Leadership and Servant Leadership. As a Strategic Leader, I focus on developing clear long-term visions and effective plans to achieve it, challenging long-held assumptions and encouraging employees to express alternative points of view so we can collectively arrive at the best outcome for the organization. As a Servant Leader, I live by a people-first mindset and believe the best results happen when team members feel personally and professionally fulfilled, so I work to remove barriers for my teams so that they can do their best.

In 2025, I was named a "Top Retail Expert" by RETHINK RETAIL, an honor I share with many business leaders and academics I have admired for many years. I am also contacted regularly by the media and by podcast hosts to share my thoughts on a variety of business-related topics.
