Ideas. Insights. Inspiration.

A Winner's Mentality

I don't know very much about NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo.

NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo, in an orange sweatshirt at an NBA playoff press conference, sitting by a microphone with Google Pixel backdrop, looking serious.

Before I began writing this post, I didn't know anything about his personal or professional background. I knew he was a basketball player, but I couldn't tell you where he played, let alone that (according to Wikipedia) he's "widely regarded as one of the greatest players and power forwards of all time."

But when this ESPN video of a post-game interview showed up in my Facebook feed with the caption, "Giannis’ perspective on sports, failure and success will give you chills", I felt compelled to watch it.

And I'm glad I did, because it is perhaps the most articulate, compelling argument against seeing a failed pursuit as a "failure" that I have ever heard.

"It's not a failure, it's steps towards success."

That's a winner's mentality.

And it can be yours the moment you decide it should be.
